Consultation is now openfor comments or objections on National Grid Electricity Transmission’s Sea Link project. The proposal is a 2GW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) link between Suffolk and Kent.
Sea Link is intended to increase transfer capability between East Anglia and South East, and support the connection of increasing offshore wind and other low carbon generation – especially relevant whilst construction of Hornsea 3 is underway.
East Anglia’s current transmission network requires reinforcement to be able to keep up with the expected increase in renewable generation to connect in the next few years.
Sea Link will enable consumers to benefit from lower-cost renewable electricity, reduce system constraints, support energy security and facilitate the delivery of the Government’s clean power ambitions.
